Graduate student positions in the areas of medical robotics and haptic teleoperation in Telerobotic and Biorobotic Systems Group, Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, University of Alberta

Motivated graduate students with experience and interest in robotics and systems control are invited to work on research topics involving medical robotics and haptics. The research projects are highly multidisciplinary and aim to use human-machine interfaces in medical (surgical and therapeutical) applications and to enable image-guided robot-assisted intervention. The research will require a strong theoretical background as well as hands-on experience in as many of the following areas as possible: robotics, haptics, systems control, (medical) image processing, and C/C++ programming.

If you are interested in being considered, please submit an official application for admission to the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department: http://www.engineering.ualberta.ca/ece/Prospectivestudents.cfm. You are welcome to note my name (M. Tavakoli) as the proposed supervisor on your application. The applications submitted to the “Systems, Control, Robotics, Biomedical” Research Group through the above website will be considered. If you would like, you can also send by way of email to tavakoli@ece.ualberta.ca the following documents: (1) a CV, including a brief research statement, (2) transcripts of previous university degrees, (3) representative publications in electronic format, and (4) the contact information of three individuals who can serve as references. You will be contacted if there is sufficient interest in your application.
