In Memoriam: Dr. Mojgan Daneshmand and Dr. Pedram Mousavi [Posted: January 22, 2020]

The nation is united in grief over the tragedy of the Ukraine International Airlines disaster on January 8, 2020. Our University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and our small community of researchers in the Electromagnetics Group are gutted by the loss of so many of our own, including our dearest colleagues, Dr. Mojgan Daneshmand and Dr. Pedram Mousavi, and their two daughters. For those of us who worked and interacted closely with them, it will take time to come to terms with the senseless loss of two brilliant minds, but also kind-hearted friends. They were loving, generous, compassionate, and cheerful, comforting, and hopeful. As academics, they embodied qualities that the rest of us continue to aspire to: they were highly competent, well-respected in our field, and they developed a close-knit group of graduate students and alumni that they loved, and who loved them, as their own family. May their souls rest in peace.
