Research

 

Our research focuses on studying optical phenomena and interactions in micro and nanoscale structures and exploring their applications in optical communication, signal processing, metrology, sensing and detection.

 

Some research topics of interest include:

*      Silicon integrated photonics

*      Nonlinear integrated optics

*      Nanoplasmonics

*      Optical sensors

 

Research facility

 

The Nanophotonics Research Lab is equipped with optical equipment and instrumentation for characterizing and performing various experiments with integrated photonic devices. Most device fabrication is done at the University of Alberta NanoFabrication Facility.
