Research

Our research focuses on the study of light-matter interactions in micro and nanoscale structures and exploring their potential applications in communications, optical signal processing, quantum information, biochemical sensing and detection.  Our work involves both theoretical and experimental aspects, from development of numerical methods for simulating electromagnetic interactions in nanostructures, to fabrication of micro and nanophotonic structures and performing laser experiments with fabricated devices.

Some research topics of interest include:

  • Micro and nanophotonic structures and devices; Silicon photonics
  • Nonlinear optical phenomena in nanoscale cavities and structures
  • Nano plasmonics
  • Optical micro and nano biosensors
  • Nanofabrication techniques of photonic structures and devices
  • Computational electromagnetics - nonlinear guided-waves, electromagnetic interaction in biological media.
