The city of Edmonton

Edmonton is the Capital City of the Province of Alberta, with a metropolitan population of over one million and is situated in forested parkland within a few hours drive of Banff and Jasper National Parks in the Rocky Mountains. Well known for its scenic river valley, Edmonton offers excellent opportunities for summer and winter sports, including hiking, canoeing, fishing, cycling, golfing, skating, downhill and cross-country skiing.

Edmonton is a cosmopolitan city with extensive theater, opera, symphony, athletic events and dinning facilities. Edmonton is called the "Festival City" because of its numerous folk, ethnic, theater and music festivals held throughout the year.

Edmonton has professional teams in most major sports and is one of only six Canadian cities to boast a National Hockey League team, the Edmonton Oilers, winners of five Stanley Cups.

Edmonton is also home of the largest shopping and entertainment centre in the world, the West Edmonton Mall, that features over 800 stores and services and more than 100 restaurants and eateries. Attractions include Galaxyland, the world’s largest indoor amusement park; World Waterpark, with slides, a wave pool and a bungee jump; Deep Sea Derby, bumper boats on an indoor lake; Sea Lions Rock, with three California sea lions performing daily; and KidTropolis, a city created just for kids to learn and experience real life. The mall’s nightlife includes the Las Vegas-style Palace Casino, Ed's Rec Room and Jubilations Live Dinner Theatre.
