2011 Networking SuperSession — Information for industry participants

The U of A IEEE Student Branch (IEEESB) cordially invites your organisation to participate in our sixth annual Networking SuperSession! This page provides information for our industry guests.

About this event

What is the Networking SuperSession?

The Networking SuperSession (NSS), organised by the University of Alberta IEEE Student Branch, is a student-industry mixer designed to foster closer ties between students and local and regional industry. This is done through a relaxed, Friday-afternoon atmosphere and by maintaining a low ratio of students-to-industry reps so that all student participants get a chance to meet industry representatives. We invite companies to send practising engineering professionals from electrical engineering, computer engineering, engineering physics, and related disciplines.

We anticipate 50+ industry reps and 150+ student participants. NSS 2011 will be held on Friday, November 25, starting at 17:00 in the Engineering Teaching and Learning Complex (ETLC) Solarium on the University of Alberta main campus. We hope to see you there!

What are the benefits of industry participation?

Gain exposure to undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of electrical and computer engineering and related disciplines.
Promote your company’s presence and activities to future engineers.

How does my company participate?

Basic participation is free for companies.
Please send up to two practicising engineers to represent your company.
Please consider sponorship and the benefits it brings.
If you haven’t been contacted by one of the IEEESB volunteers, please don’t hesitate to give us a shout.

Title Sponsorship

We are also soliciting proposals for a Title Sponsor for this event. Title sponsorship brings special recognition, primarily through inclusion of the Title Sponsor’s company name in the event title. In addition to the benefits of industry participation as listed above, the Title Sponsor will receive the following benefits:

Company name will be integrated into event title, i.e., IEEE Student Branch / (title sponsor name) Networking SuperSession 2011
Company name and logo given top billing on event advertising material, event banner, and event program
Opportunity to give brief opening remarks during event
Plus, all other benefits afforded to Gold Sponsors (four representatives, company table/booth)

Title Sponsorship will be awarded to the highest bidder. Proposals are welcome by October 31.

Day of event

NSS 2011 is on Friday, November 25. The event runs from 17:00 to 19:00. Representatives from participating companies are welcome to arrive up to 30 minutes earlier, especially Gold Sponsors to set up their tables/booths.
The event is held in the Solarium on Level 2 of the Engineering Teaching and Learning Complex (ETLC). Please see campus map here. ETLC is building #23 on the campus map and is located in the northwest quadrant of the main U of A campus (approximately 91 Avenue and 116 Street). ETLC is connected via pedways to the other engineering buildings (numbers 21, 22, and 26). The nearest available parking is at the Windsor Carpark (building #3; enter from 116 Street, near 92 Avenue).
We will have a special registration desk setup exclusively for company representatives.
