The cad drives in the EE552 labs can be mounted and used directly on the CEB 342 machines. This allows users to work with MaxPlus II directly on the cad repository, avoiding ftp file transfers or using the slow Z drive. The following are directions for mounting and linking the cad drive onto the NT machines.
Step 1: Create a symbolic link from your gpu account to you cad
account. This should be done from the gpu account. Optionally,
a link can be inserted from your cad account to your gpu account to allow
for easy access to both. The pathname in the link should be the path
to the users home directory.
gpu3% ln -s /afs/ualberta.ca/labs/ceb531/home/<username>
cad
Step 2: Mount the gpu drive on Windows NT. From Windows NT right-click on the desktop icon 'My Computer'. Select the 'Map network drive' option. Under the path box type: '\\dangra.ucs.ualberta.ca\<gpu username>'. And under the 'Connect As' box type: <username>. Click on OK. You will then be prompted for your password. Supply your gpu password.
Step 3: In an MsDos window you can mount your main EE 552 directory for quicker access to vhdl files. Use the windows subst command. Type 'subst <new drive letter>: <gpu drive>:\cad\ee552\'
Now, from Maxplus II, vhdl files from your cad account can be accessed via the newly mounted drive. This saves on time and energy involved in file transfer and allows the user to keep a single repository.
