PostScript Files

How do I create a PostScript file in Word (or any other application)?

If you are running Word from inside EECE Ntrige simply select File | Print, select PostScript-To-File, followed by Ok.

If you are running your application from home from home and wish to create a PostScript file on Windows 9x, select Start | Settings | Printers (or Printers from My Computer). Add a new printer using the step-by-step wizard (install any Postscript printer - eg. HP LaserJet 6P/MP - PostScript). Under the Details Tab select File: (Creates File on disc) under the heading Print to the following port:.

When your ready to print from your application, select the recently installed PostScript File print driver from the Print Setup options.

How do I view PostScript Files from my PC/Mac?

There are many tools available on the Internet that allow you to view PostScript files (and they're FREE!). One of the most popular PS viewers for the PC/Mac are Ghostview/Ghostscript, you may obtain a copy using the following link ftp://ftp.cs.wisc.edu/ghost/aladdin/. Installation is straight forward after downloading the file.

After completing the install portion of Ghostview/Ghostscript, simply double click the PostScript file you wish to view or print. Another method is to open Ghostview an "drag-and-drop" the PS file into it.
