How do I get Netscape to automatically view Acrobat .pdf files?

You must set up the proper options. Here is mine from the Hp stations.

Open Netscape and under options > general preferences > helpers find the description application/pdf and click edit. If you can't find it just click new. Fill in the information as it is given above. If you are on a Sun station you can leave out the pathname and just put acroread %s. Click ok and save your options when you are done.

Setting up Ghostview to read .ps files is just the same. Here are my settings, again from an Hp station.

Note: From time to time you may want to save these files. To do this, check the save to disk option. When you are done go back and check the application option.


If you are having trouble reading the newsgroup from Netscape, try these options. Under options > mail and news preferences > servers enter information similar to this:
