Evaluation (Review) of Peer's Final Reports
You will be asked to review another project group's final report draft. The intention of this is to expose you to a very common practice out in industry: the review of the work of others. You will likely find that as you review more written work by others your own writing skills will improve. Reviewing the work of others exposes you to different patterns of organization and tools for communication. When professionally reviewing such works, you will find that some methods work better than others and will likely end up modifying your technical writing skills because of this.

Please be verbose, professional, and constructive with your feedback to your peers. You will be provided with a 'review sheet' to help with the process. A copy of this sheet can be found here. You may be interested to note that most points on this sheet are taken directly from the final report grading criteria.

Please annotate the draft papers in red ink. Red ink stands out and will allow the authors to quickly jump to your comments and modifications.

Distribution of the Draft Reports

Reports to review will be delivered to you shortly after the date that the authors submit the draft of the paper.

Reviews are to be completed by the individuals that they are assigned to (this is not group-oriented work). Assignment of a particular group to an individual reviewer is made in a random fashion.

Anonymity

At your discretion, you may make your review anonymous by removing the (cover) sheet that has your name.

Grading

Indeed, your review will evaluated. The following rubric will be used: Draft Report Review Evaluation Rubric. Please ensure that you review this rubric prior to submission of your review.

Since time is at a premium at the end of the year and the authors will be eagerly awaiting your feedback, late submissions are penalized 50% per business day (or portion thereof) late.

Submission

Submit the reviewed paper along with the Draft Review Sheet into the course submission box outside the ECE General Office by 4PM on the date noted in the syllabus.
