About us

The integrated optics lab, directed by Prof. Ray DeCorby, is located within the ECE Department at the University of Alberta. We study chip-based optical devices such as filters, gratings, waveguides and micro-cavities, which we fabricate at the U of A nanoFAB facility. Application areas of interest include cavity quantum electrodynamics (cavity QED, which is a promising enabler of quantum sensing and computing systems) and lab-on-a-chip (LOC) -based optical sensing systems. Major themes in our work include thin film optics, integrated hollow waveguides, and periodic optical media. A few ongoing projects:
